Dingell, Carter Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Extend Telehealth Access for Seniors

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (12th District of Michigan)

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Congressman Buddy Carter (R-GA) introduced the Telehealth Modernization Act of 2025, a bill to extend telehealth flexibilities for seniors on Medicare through fiscal year 2027.

“Telehealth services are an essential part of our healthcare system. It is a fact that having to physically travel to a doctor’s office or hospital can present a serious barrier to care for seniors, people with disabilities, and people who live in rural areas that are far from a health care provider,” Dingell said. “Telehealth worked during COVID and should be available and more widely adopted. The Telehealth Modernization Act takes us one step closer to protecting and expanding access to telehealth for Americans who depend on it.”

“Telehealth is a vital part of our health care system, and we must ensure that it is available to patients who need it. By extending telehealth flexibilities for patients, we are making health care more accessible, regardless of their physical location,” said Rep. Carter. “As a pharmacist, one of my top priorities has been increasing the accessibility and quality of health care; this bill does both, in a bipartisan manner, and paves the way for more patients and providers to use 21st century technology.”

“This comprehensive legislation advances many of ATA Action’s top priorities including an extension of Medicare telehealth flexibilities, the Acute Hospital Care at Home Program, the in-home cardiopulmonary rehabilitation flexibilities, temporary expansion of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program to allow virtual only suppliers to participate through 2030, and implementation of the SPEAK Act to improve telehealth delivery for individuals with limited English proficiency,” said Kyle Zebley, Executive Director, ATA Action & Senior Vice President of Public Policy, ATA. It’s a strong step toward expanding access, improving care, and modernizing how services are delivered across the country. This signifies a pivotal moment for the industry — demonstrating that these policies work in concert and that telehealth plays an essential role across the full spectrum of the healthcare system.”

A Senate companion bill is being led by Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC) and Brian Schatz (D-HI).

Dingell Requests Answers About Future of Flat Rock Dam

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (12th District of Michigan)

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) today sent a letter to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Great Lakes Fishery Commission, and Huron-Clinton Metroparks, requesting clarification about the future of the Flat Rock Dam.

“This is a complex issue, and I am someone who cares deeply about protecting our natural resources and preserving them for future generations. The Huron River is an important 130-mile-long river in southeastern Michigan that flows through much of my district into Lake Erie,” Dingell wrote. “It is associated with 13 parks, game areas, and recreation areas, and passes through the cities of Dexter, Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Belleville, Flat Rock, and Rockwood, which were developed along its banks. Most of these cities are in Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District, which I represent. My understanding is that the Huron River has many dams — 19 on the main stream and at least 96 throughout the entire system — and they are built to slightly increase and maintain water levels in existing lakes to provide drought protection and flood control.”

“Dams have positive and negative impacts, which make these discussions complex, and answers to these complex questions are not simple. They provide benefits like water storage, flood control, and renewable energy. Dams can also pose significant environmental challenges in the preservation of our natural resources, which is a topic of extensive conversation,” Dingell continued. “As you know, the Huron River is heavily fished by sportsmen for rock bass, sunfish, bluegill, black crappie, white bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, catfish, trout, muskie, Coho salmon, Chinook salmon, and Steelhead, and suckers and carp are also common fish in the river.

“Protecting these waters requires balancing restoration, maintenance, public safety, history, and access. My goal is to ensure the community has clear and objective information about this process, the options under consideration, and a path forward,” Dingell concluded. “It is clear that any decision regarding the Flat Rock Dam will have a lasting impact on our Downriver communities and the river corridor for generations to come. It is important that the community has clear facts, understands the issues, stays informed, has the ability to ask thoughtful questions, and be engaged in public process.”

Dingell requested answers to the following questions:

  1. What is the current condition of the Flat Rock Dam?
  2. How many times has the dam been repaired, and what was the nature of those repairs?
  3. Have failure scenarios been modeled, and is there concern about catastrophic failure?
  4. What monitoring measures are currently in place for the Flat Rock Dam to ensure safety in the interim?
  5. What does “partial removal” entail, and how does it differ from full removal?
  6. What are the implications of leaving the dam in place without removal?
  7. Can you provide a perspective on the long-term outlook of the Flat Rock Dam?
  8. How would each option (removal, partial removal, or no action) affect the river’s flow?
  9. How do the costs, benefits, and ecological impacts of constructing a fish ladder compare with the alternatives of partial removal, full removal, or leaving the dam in place, and to what extent would a fish ladder meaningfully improve fish passage relative to these other options?
  10. Is the dam structurally or functionally tied to the railroad bridge in any way?
  11. How would each dam alternative (no action, partial removal, full removal) impact state-listed or federally-listed threatened or endangered species?
  12. What are the projected costs of each option, and has funding been identified?
  13. How would each dam alternative create a more biodiverse environment for the river watershed?
  14. What would the implications be for aquatic biodiversity and spawning conditions?
  15. Has any sediment testing been conducted to date, and what analyses have been completed on the sediment, and how might those findings inform the next steps?
  16. Will additional testing be required depending on the decision reached, and will sediment removal be necessary as part of any option under consideration?

Speaker Johnson: Democrats Defend Crime, Violent Criminals at the Expense of the Safety of American People

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04)

WASHINGTON — At the weekly House Republican Leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson recapped his travel to districts across the country during the August District Work Period, touted the rapid decline in crime in Washington, D.C. following President Trump’s crackdown, and discussed how Congressional Democrats are already seeding the ground for a government shutdown.

“D.C. residents and the residents of every major American city should be able to walk freely without fear of being mugged and violently assaulted and carjacked or shot at,” Speaker Johnson said. “I mean, this is common sense, and it’s clear this action is needed.”

Watch Speaker Johnson’s full remarks here.

On the August District Work Period:

I spent the month traveling in my own district and 12 other states, we went quite literally coast to coast and got a great reception everywhere we went. In my district, I met with farmers who will benefit from the permanent relief from that death tax, and small business owners just like this, who can now plan for the future better because of tax certainty and increases in the small business deductions. In Nashville, Tennessee where I was, I met with tip workers who will keep more of what they earn thanks to the no tax on tips and no tax on overtime. They were overjoyed by that.

I was in Idaho Falls, Idaho, visited with a local manufacturer there who employs 5,200 people. One of the biggest, most impressive businesses nationwide. And thanks to this bill, they can now permanently deduct more of their critical investments in research and development on their products, and that will help their company and thereby create more jobs and help their workers. Whether you’re a farmer, a bartender, a stay-at-home parent, a law enforcement officer, a business owner, any profession in between, the legislation that we passed is going to benefit you. It’s going to benefit all Americans, because as we noted, it was written for lower- and middle-class earners. And they are going to feel the effects of that in very short order.

On President Trump’s Successful Crackdown on DC Crime:

Since President Trump took control of the DC Metro Police Department, the crime in our nation’s capital has fallen off a cliff. Here’s some stats. Carjackings are down 85%[…] robberies down 42%, violent crime down 25%. DC went 11 straight days without a murder […] Nearly 1300 criminals have been arrested and 135 illegal guns removed from the DC streets. DC residents and the residents of every big American city should be able to walk freely without fear of being mugged and violently assaulted and carjacked or shot at. I mean, this is common sense and it’s clear this action is needed. 81% of the people in this country believe crime is a major problem in large American cities, and we ought to do something about it. And we’re the team that will.

President Trump is clearly listening. His efforts have been so effective here in D.C. that Mayor Bowser, who is a Democrat, as you know, signed an Executive Order just yesterday, welcoming federal law enforcement in DC indefinitely. I hope my Democrat colleagues here will wake up and realize that crime is not a partisan issue. It can’t be. Violent criminals don’t know if you’re a Democrat or a Republican before they put a gun to the back of your head and demand you give up your keys. We can’t stand for that. And the Democrats should set aside their pride and stop defending violent criminals, which is amazingly what so many of them are doing right now, and work with the Trump Administration to put the safety of the American people first.

On Democrats Preparing to Vote to Shut Down the Government:

House Republicans are continuing the FY26 appropriations process and our efforts to responsibly fund the government while also cutting spending. Why? Because my friends, we have a $37 trillion federal debt. Now remember, we cut $1.6 trillion in the Working Families Tax Cut bill, and that was a huge leap forward because it’s the largest amount of savings ever achieved by any legislative body in the history of mankind. But it’s not enough. We must continue to spend more responsibly.

This week, we’ll bring up the energy and water appropriations bill to the floor, and Chairman Cole is diligently working to get all 12 of the appropriations bills out of his committee. As we always are, House Republicans are committed to keeping the government open. And unfortunately, it seems like not all the Democrats agree with that and they’re beginning to apply their government shutdown pressure. But I want you to remember one thing; all but one House Democrat voted to shut down the government in March, and we expect, sadly, that that may happen again. If the government shuts down, it’ll be because Congressional Democrats rejected common sense solutions to fund the government and instead caved to their far-left base. But I’m going to say this, I mean this sincerely. If Democrats are willing to work with us and think responsibly about how we can spend less than we did last year, then we are all open to that.

On Governor Gavin Newsom’s Attacks on Christians following tragedy:

In response to a video of Karoline Leavitt discussing the power of prayer amid great tragedy, the governor posted, “These children were literally praying as they got shot at.” I mean, why? Like, why would he do that? Why would you do that except that you were starving for attention? It’s detestable. Two children were murdered, more than a dozen were hospitalized. And Gavin Newsom’s response was to sneer and condemn those who seek out our creator at our darkest moments.

I just thought it was, I just thought it was evil. In fact, it’s indicative of such a profound moral decay that really the only hope for Gavin is prayer, ironically. And we’re told in scripture to do that as people of faith. We believe in the strength of prayer and intercession. It’s foundational to who we are as believers, and by the way, who we are as Americans. It’s woven into the fabric of our country, our deep Judeo-Christian heritage, and it’s something that we represent. And as a leader of the state with the largest Christian population in America, I will keep Governor Newsom and also the people of California in my prayers.

House Republicans Vote to Affirm House Oversight Committee Investigation into Epstein Files

Washington, September 3, 2025

WASHINGTON — House Republicans today voted to endorse and affirm the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the horrific crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Speaker Johnson released the following statement:

“President Trump is the most transparent and accessible President in U.S. history, and House Republicans are in lockstep with the President on our commitment to delivering maximum transparency while maintaining adequate protections for innocent victims. The resolution passed by House Republicans today affirms our Conference’s support for the extensive House Oversight Committee investigation, which unlike other proposals in Congress, has the force of law, will protect victims, does not require Senate approval, and is already underway and delivering results.”

The Oversight Committee initiated an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, his associated prosecution, and plea deal. Thus far, the Committee has undertaken the following actions:

  • Issued 10 deposition subpoenas to Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales.
    • Agreements are in place to receive formal written declarations from former Attorneys General Alberto Gonzelez, Eric Holder, and Jeff Sessions under penalty of prosecution for false statements.
    • Bill Barr has been interviewed by Committee investigators.
  • Issued a subpoena to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for records related to Epstein and Maxwell.
    • DOJ is complying with the subpoena and has already delivered 34,000 pages of Epstein-related documents to the committee, which have been publicly release, with more forthcoming.
  • Issued a subpoena to the Epstein estate for related documents and communications (the deadline for producing those documents is September 8th)
  • Issued a subpoena for deposition testimony from Ghislaine Maxwell.
  • Scheduled former Labor Secretary and former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Alexander Acosta, for a voluntary transcribed interview on September 19.

Congressman Moore issued the following statement:

“Today, House Republicans took an important step to fulfill our commitment to provide the American people with radical transparency regarding the Epstein files. I voted for H. The Committee has also issued subpoenas to the DOJ for all documents, the Epstein estate, and 11 deposition subpoenas for testimony to ensure that we are providing the transparency that the American people require.”

Carter introduces resolution censuring Tlaib for antisemitic comments, cheering on terrorism

Headline: Carter introduces resolution censuring Tlaib for antisemitic comments, cheering on terrorism

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) today introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for her disgusting remarks at the People’s Conference for Palestine, an antisemitic conference that cheered on terrorism against the state of Israel and Jewish people and called for the United States to be neutralized.

In her comments, she vilified her colleagues for standing with our ally, Israel, used profanities, and endangered the lives of Jewish people by celebrating a terrorist regime.

“Tlaib’s vile, blatant antisemitism is a scourge on this Congress, and she must be held accountable. Her conduct is beneath that of a civilized person, let alone a member of Congress. I am calling on the House of Representatives to censure her remarks and put democrats on notice for enabling and cheering on antisemitism in their own party,”
said Rep. Carter.

These remarks follow a pattern of antisemitic comments from Rep. Tlaib, who has a history of promoting false, antisemitic narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and has called for the destruction of the state of Israel and its people.

Congressman Harris Applauds Termination of Offshore Wind Funding

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01)

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. is commending U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and the Department of Transportation for their decisive action to withdraw $679 million in funding from 12 offshore wind projects that failed to meet federal infrastructure priorities.

This includes the Sparrows Point Steel Marshalling Port Project (PIDP; $47,392,500). The site at Sparrows Point Steel, a subsidiary of U.S. Wind, would have been a key manufacturing hub for Maryland Offshore Wind and several other offshore wind projects along the Atlantic Coast.

Statement From Congressman Harris:

“I applaud Secretary Sean Duffy and the U.S. Department of Transportation for their decision to withdraw $679 million in funding from failed offshore wind projects.

This decision is a major win for our local communities, fishermen, and our coastal economy. The offshore wind industry has repeatedly overpromised and underdelivered—threatening marine ecosystems, disrupting historic industries like commercial fishing, and burdening taxpayers with billions in subsidies.

Maryland’s Eastern Shore is not a testing ground for green energy experiments. I thank the White House and DOT for standing with our community, defending our coastline, and working to terminate these reckless offshore wind projects once and for all.”
