Congressman Rick Allen Votes to Reopen the Federal Government

Tonight, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026. This legislation includes a continuing resolution (CR) that would extend current funding levels through January 30, 2026, along with three Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills covering the Departments of Agriculture and Veterans Affairs, as well as legislative operations. After voting in support of the bill, Congressman Allen issued the following statement:

“It is clear that this shutdown was about nothing more than politics. Democrats could have cut this deal over 40 days ago. Instead, they repeatedly voted to hold the government hostageusing families, service members, federal workers, and veterans as political ‘leverage’ in the longest government shutdown in American history.

“After six weeks of obstruction, I am pleased that a handful of Senate Democrats finally came to their senses and listened to millions of hardworking Americans. Yet, the Chuck Schumer-created political charade dragged on for far too long with the support of Georgia’s two Senators and nearly every House Democrat—causing untold pain and lasting consequences. President Trump will soon sign the bill to officially turn the page on this national nightmare and reopen the federal government.”

BACKGROUND: On September 19, 2025, with Congressman Allen’s support, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan, seven-week funding extension to keep the federal government open. Senate Democrats, including Georgia Senators Ossoff and Warnock, blocked this commonsense CR for over 40 days, voting repeatedly to keep the federal government shut down. On Monday evening, the Senate passed an amended House CR by a vote of 60-40, clearing the way for the House to reconsider the bill and send it to President Trump’s desk for signature.

Bergman Votes to Reopen Government, End Record-Long Schumer Shutdown

Washington, November 12, 2025

Today, Rep. Jack Bergman voted to end the longest government shutdown in American history – restoring paychecks to federal employees, reopening government operations, and ensuring critical services resume for families across Michigan and the Nation.

Rep. Bergman issued the following statement:

“For over 40 days, hardworking Americans were held hostage by Democrat political games. From the start, House Republicans have not only been ready to reopen the government – they never wanted it to close. Ending this shutdown brings stability to our troops, our Veterans, and our communities. It’s long past time to open the government and get back to work for the American people.”

Rep. Bergman returned to Washington on Tuesday evening after celebrating the Marine Corps’ 250th Birthday in Traverse City on Monday and joining the Veterans Day ceremony in downtown Gaylord the following morning.

Larsen Votes No on Legislation to Drive Up Health Care Costs

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Rick Larsen (2nd Congressional District Washington)

Today, Rep. Larsen released the following statement after voting no on Republican legislation to drive up health care costs:

“This resolution to end the government shutdown allows health care costs to skyrocket for 26,000 people I represent and rips health care away from 8,000 people I represent. Instead of fixing the Republican health care crisis, it fails to permanently extend Medicare telehealth flexibilities that seniors rely on, does nothing to roll back the Big Ugly Law’s devastating cuts to Medicaid and lets several Republican Senators enrich themselves with taxpayer dollars.

“Rising costs under the Trump administration are forcing people in Northwest Washington state to choose between going to the doctor, paying rent and feeding their kids. I will keep fighting alongside House Democrats to make health care accessible and affordable, and lower the cost of living for hardworking families.

“Now that the shutdown is ending, it is time to ensure air traffic controllers, aviation safety inspectors, TSA workers and all federal employees get the backpay they deserve as soon as possible. The President’s attack on air traffic controllers’ patriotism this week was unhinged — they deserve unconditional gratitude and compensation for the essential work they do to keep our skies safe. I am committed to rapidly unwinding the major disruptions the traveling public has been put through due to the Republican shutdown.”

Congressman Moore Applauds Successful House Vote to End Historic Government Shutdown

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Riley Moore (WV-02)

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Riley M. Moore released the following statement after the House voted to end the 43-day Schumer Shutdown. The House passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371 – Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act 2026 that extends funding for most agencies until January 30th, 2026. The measure also includes three full-year funding bills, the Legislative Branch, Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bills.

The legislation also includes key national security provisions written by Congressman Moore, including language prohibiting the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Legislative Branch from purchasing compromised technology tied to the Chinese Communist Party.

Congressman Riley M. Moore issued the following statement:

“The Schumer Shutdown is finally over after the Democrats held the American people hostage for 43 days. Republicans held the line and did not cave to the Democrats’ insane $1.5 Trillion wishlist, including giving healthcare benefits to illegal immigrants. We can now get back to work enacting the America First agenda. I’m also grateful to Chairman Cole for including my language to protect our national security by preventing the VA and Legislative Branch from purchasing harmful technology tied to the Chinese Communist Party.”

Major Investments Secured for West Virginia:

The legislation not only reopens the federal government, restoring pay for workers and providing stability for families, but also includes major local investments in West Virginia, championed by Congressman Riley M. Moore:

  • $712,500 for a new Preston County Senior Center. The center has vastly outgrown its current facility, and the new location will expand access to vital services for thousands of seniors—including in-home care, meal delivery, and transportation to medical appointments. This investment will strengthen community care and improve quality of life for senior West Virginians.
  • $1,668,750 for the construction of a new Barbour County Ambulance Authority Station. The new facility will enhance emergency response capabilities, expand public safety training programs, and serve as an emergency shelter and distribution site in the event of a natural disaster. This project will ensure first responders have the resources they need to keep West Virginians safe.

Congressman Moore’s statement on how these projects are crucial to West Virginia’s infrastructure and constituents:

“These are the kinds of investments that matter—projects that save lives, care for our most vulnerable, and strengthen our communities. By ending the Schumer shutdown and passing this bill, we’re putting West Virginia first and delivering real results for the people of the Second District.

West Virginians work hard and expect their government to do the same. I’ll continue fighting for solutions that strengthen our economy, and deliver for the great people of the Mountain State.”

Bacon Votes to Reopen the Government and End the Democrat Leadership Shutdown

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement after voting to reopen the government and end the Democrat leadership shutdown:

“I voted yes to open the government back up after this unnecessary and damaging shutdown perpetrated by Congressional Democrat leaders that achieved nothing. Today’s vote funds three of twelve appropriations bills through September 30th next year and funds the rest of government through January 31st. It brings back the 1.4 million federal workers, restores their paychecks, and gets SNAP benefits going again for the 42 million Americans who rely on them. House Democrats who voted against this are opposing the unions representing federal employees and air traffic controllers, and millions of Americans who simply want their government open. I’m grateful to the eight Senate Democrats who stood up to their leadership and voted to end this harmful shutdown. Most in the GOP are ready to negotiate and find a bipartisan, reasonable consensus on the ACA tax credits.”

JOINT DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP STATEMENT ON PARTISAN REPUBLICAN SPENDING BILL

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (8th District of New York)

Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar released the following statement:

The American people deserve better than the chaos, cruelty and corruption that has been unleashed on the country by Donald Trump and Republicans since the beginning of his presidency.

Forty-three days ago, Donald Trump and MAGA extremists shut down the government because they did not want to provide affordable healthcare to working class Americans. During the Republican shutdown, the Trump administration and GOP enablers have visited tremendous pain on the American people, including hardworking federal employees, law enforcement personnel, air traffic controllers, SNAP recipients and more—all because Republicans have no interest in stopping healthcare costs from skyrocketing.

House Democrats will continue our fight to lower the high cost of living, decisively address the Republican healthcare crisis and extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. We will fight to protect Medicaid, Medicare, hospitals, nursing homes and community-based health clinics. Over the past several weeks, a handful of Republicans claimed to be interested in addressing the healthcare crisis that they have created in America. Open Enrollment is here and the Congress must act with urgency. Now is the time for so-called traditional Republicans to join with House Democrats, sign the discharge petition and force a vote on our bill to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years.

House Democrats are in this fight until we win this fight.

Kelly, U.S. House pass legislation to end government shutdown, bill advances to President Trump’s desk

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA)

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) voted in favor of legislation that would fund the government and end the government shutdown after more than six weeks. This vote comes after Kelly and House Republicans first voted to fund the government and avoid a shutdown on September 19, and after Senate Democrats blocked the House GOP-passed clean continuing resolution 14 times since then.

The legislation, which also passed the Senate on Monday, now advances to President Trump’s desk for his signature.

“This week, a bipartisan group of lawmakers came together and put country over politics. Reopening the government and doing what is right for the American people is not a red issue or a blue issue — it’s a red, white, and blue issue,” said Rep. Kelly. “House Republicans passed legislation to fund the government in September, more than six weeks ago. This shutdown could have been avoided from the start. Congress has a responsibility to keep the government funded and open, and the legislation I voted for both in September and this week do just that.”

The legislation:

  • Funds SNAP through September 2026.
  • Funds the Department of Agriculture and the FDA, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects, and the operations of Congress through September 2026.
  • Funds all other agencies, will be funded through January 30, 2026.

Tonko Slams GOP Budget that Puts Health Care Out of Reach for Millions

Republican spending bill ensures cost of living continues to go up without relief for Americans

Washington, November 12, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Paul D. Tonko (NY-20) released a statement following his no vote on the Republicans spending bill:

I heard from constituents across my district during this more than 40-day shutdown, and their message to me was loud and clear: ‘keep up the fight to protect our health care.’ This spending bill is a slap in the face to that mandate. I voted no.

Health care premiums are already skyrocketing, and the longer Congress delays, the more pain will be felt by working Americans. While House Republicans were more than happy to spend the last 7+ weeks on paid vacation, ignoring negotiations to end the shutdown and denying this affordability crisis of their own making, our work doesn’t stop. I’ll keep fighting to do all in my power to restore vital health care benefits and to lower costs for families in my district and beyond.

Statement from Congressman García’s Spokesperson

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Fabiola Rodriguez-Ciampoli, spokesperson for Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) issued the following statement:

“Congressman García made a deeply personal decision based on his health, his wife’s worsening condition and his responsibility to the grandchildren he is raising after the death of his daughter. He followed every rule and every filing requirement laid out by the State of Illinois.

“At a moment like this, he hopes his colleagues, especially those who speak about family values, can show the same compassion and respect that any family would want during a health crisis. Congressman García remains committed to finishing his term with dignity and continuing his lifelong fight for working families.”

“Lousy Deal that Leaves Hardworking Americans Behind”: Rep. Huffman Votes No on Partisan Funding Package

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Jared Huffman Representing the 2nd District of California

November 12, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) released the following statement after voting against the partisan funding package that passed the U.S. House of Representatives:

“Republicans promised the American people they’d lower costs and improve people’s lives. But since taking control of the government, they’ve cut thousands of jobs, made health care costs skyrocket, dismantled programs people depend on, and caused the longest shutdown in U.S. history – all to enrich their billionaire donors and line their own pockets.

“From the beginning, House Democrats and I were clear: we would support a funding bill that both reopens the government and saves health care. Instead of working with us to solve the health care crisis they created, Republicans fled Washington for a record-breaking 7-week vacation and are now forcing through a lousy deal that leaves hardworking Americans behind.

“This will cost lives. People in my district are going to see premiums double and even triple. As if that wasn’t horrible enough, Senate Republicans slipped in a provision that allows MAGA Senators to sue the Department of Justice and get million-dollar payouts. So, while families, seniors, and veterans drown in medical bills, these greedy politicians are getting major paydays on the taxpayers’ dime. It’s unconscionable, disgusting, and corrupt.

“I’m not giving up on this fight. This chance for Republicans to grow a spine and do what’s best for the public – not their own pocketbooks – is over, but my House Democratic colleagues and I will keep going down every avenue there is to save affordable care for Americans.”
