WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO), co-chair of the British-American Parliamentary Group, released the following statement on King Charles III’s visit to Congress:

“The United Kingdom is one of our nation’s strongest allies. Our soldiers fought together during World War II to defend democracy against fascism. We built one of the strongest defense alliances as founding members of NATO. And when America was attacked on September 11th, the United Kingdom answered the call and fought alongside me and other American service members in Iraq and Afghanistan against terrorism.

“America is safer and stronger when we stand by our allies and friends. Today, we welcome King Charles III to the U.S. Capitol as we work to strengthen the bonds and special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.”

As co-chair of the British-American Parliamentary Group, Congressman Crow today served on the Escort Committee who greeted King Charles and Queen Camilla upon their arrival to the U.S. House and escorted His Majesty to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Griffith Statement on Indictment of Dr. David Morens Over Concealment of Federal COVID Records

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA)

The U.S. Department of Justice secured an indictment against ex-NIH official Dr. David Morens. The charges stem from Dr. Morens and his alleged concealment of federal records related to COVID-19 research. In response to the indictment, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Congressional investigations into the origins of COVID-19 showed issues with how our federal health bureaucracy handles research grants.

“This indictment is a major development related to our investigations, and I encourage the Department of Justice to keep following the facts to where they may lead. The American people deserve accountability, transparency and justice.

“My Risky Research Review Act is one potential solution to strengthen accountability, reform the federal health bureaucracy and ensure more thorough oversight of federally funded research projects.”

BACKGROUND

Rep. Griffith was the lead Energy and Commerce Member in numerous forums with public health officials that were in various leadership positions during the outbreak of COVID-19, including working closely with the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

During this time as Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations, the investigation of officials included National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, former National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Frances Collins and Dr. Morens.

Rep. Griffith was also a key figure in examining EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak.

In March 2025, Rep. Griffith introduced the Risky Research Review Act and the Royalty Transparency Act to rein in the federal health bureaucracy.

Griffith Statement on King Charles III Joint Meeting of Congress

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA)

As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland delivered remarks during a Joint Meeting of Congress. King Charles III is the second British monarch to address a joint meeting of Congress. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was the first to do so in 1991. Following the joint meeting of Congress, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), who is also Chairman of the Congressional Friends of Wales Caucus, issued the following statement:

“It is an honor to witness King Charles III address a Joint Meeting of Congress. As someone who in 2007 briefly escorted Queen Elizabeth II from the old House of Delegates chamber to the current House of Delegates chamber for a joint legislative session, today’s historic proceedings were particularly special for me.

“The relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is bound by a rich shared heritage, with some of that heritage grounded right here in Virginia. Our peoples’ growth together shows the endless potential of our relationship. The United States will continue to be close with one of our historical allies.”

Garamendi Introduces War Powers Resolution to Stop Trump’s Illegal Iran War

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman John Garamendi – Representing California’s 3rd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-08), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee, released the following statement after introducing a War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s illegal war of choice in Iran:

“President Trump’s unilateral and unauthorized decision to plunge the United States into his war of choice with Iran must be stopped. That is why I’m proud to introduce a War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s illegal war in Iran.

“Trump’s war is nothing short of a self-inflicted national security and economic disaster. Thirteen American servicemembers and thousands of Iranian civilians have been killed. Americans, who are already plagued by one of the worst affordability crises in years, are now paying unconscionable amounts for a tank of gas and are struggling to keep food on the table.

“The American people are barely getting by, and to what end? The Iranian regime is still intact. They still have ample ballistic missiles and drones and now control the flow of goods through the Strait of Hormuz. Lastly, the Iranian government is expanding their stockpile of uranium with the goal of developing nuclear weapons, which would have been impossible if Trump didn’t shred President Obama’s Iran Nuclear deal.

“The Founders of our country gave Congress, as representatives of the American people, the ultimate decision of when we go to war. Instead of following through with his promise to stay out of foreign wars, President Trump made the dangerous and stupid decision to go to war, defying the Founders, Congress, and the will of the people. Trump has no plan to sustain the current conflict, no plan to transition the current Iranian government toward democracy, and no plan to de-escalate or contain the conflict from spreading throughout the region.

“I am proud to have voted for every War Powers Resolution introduced in this Congress, and I am proud to introduce my own. We cannot let this war go on. There is too much at stake.”

Huffman Demands Answers on Trump Scheme to Ship North Coast Water to SoCal District

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Jared Huffman Representing the 2nd District of California

Federal water grab would hurt northern communities, tribes, farms, fishermen

April 28, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Today, House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) announced he has opened an investigation into the Trump administration’s latest scheme to steal water from Northern California and divert it to Southern California. As part of his investigation, he sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum demanding records and information about their efforts to facilitate a Southern California water district’s takeover of dams and water rights on the Eel River, hundreds of miles outside its service area. He sent a similar letter to the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District.

“The communities and Tribal Nations I represent would be directly impacted by the proposal Secretary Rollins and the District have described,” Huffman wrote. “Yet your agencies have thus far provided no information to explain why a Southern California water district would seek to acquire water rights and water infrastructure on the Eel River, hundreds of miles north of its service area.”

In the letter, Huffman pressed both secretaries to explain why federal agencies are working to facilitate a takeover of the Potter Valley Project, including Scott Dam and Cape Horn Dam, by a water district with no connection to the Eel River basin. He warned the proposal raises serious environmental, legal, economic, and water supply concerns for vulnerable communities along the Eel and Russian Rivers and renews decades of failed schemes to divert North Coast water to distant interests in Southern California and the Central Valley.

Big water interests have targeted Eel River water for decades. The Army Corps once pushed a dam that would have flooded Round Valley before Governor Ronald Reagan killed the plan after fierce local and tribal opposition. Huffman warned the new scheme “revives a long and contentious history of plans to divert Eel River water to distant interests in southern California and the Central Valley.”

“The public deserves a clear and complete accounting of what the District and your agencies have been discussing and planning,” Huffman wrote. “Even the minimal information you have shared to date raises serious environmental, legal, economic, and water supply concerns for vulnerable communities in the Eel and Russian River basins.”

The letter demands a full accounting of meetings, proposals, and financing arrangements, along with any plans to connect Eel or Russian River water to the State or Federal Water Projects. Huffman specifically asks about previously studied diversion projects, including Dos Rios Dam, the North Bay aqueduct, and the Richmond Bridge pipeline.

Read the full letter to USDA and DOI here.

Read the full letter to the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District here.

Background

Secretary Rollins recently announced she had “found a buyer” for the Potter Valley Project in the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (the District) in Riverside County. The District confirmed it wants to acquire PG&E’s water rights and infrastructure, including Scott Dam and Cape Horn Dam, to pull new supplies from the Eel River.

The plan would blow up a hard-won agreement between PG&E, local water managers, tribes, and environmental partners to bring Eel River water rights under local control for the first time in a century. That deal removes two obsolete dams, secures water deliveries for Mendocino County and the North Bay, restores salmon runs, and creates local jobs. It has the backing of Governor Newsom, elected officials across the North Coast, tribes, and the fishing community.

High Court Will Take Up Trump Administration’s Effort to End TPS for Haiti, Venezuela, Syria, and Other Nations in Crisis

House Recently Passed Pressley Petition to Extend Haiti TPS

Press Conference (YouTube)

WASHINGTON – Today on Capitol Hill, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Senators Edward J. Markey (D-MA) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25), alongside a coalition of seniors, care workers, advocates, and allies, demanded the Supreme Court defend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and urged Congress to advance solutions to stabilize the care workforce as a national care crisis unfolds.

The press conference took place the day before the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a case involving the Trump Administration’s efforts to end TPS for Haiti, Venezuela, Syria, and other nations grappling with layered crises. The presser also follows the House’s adoption of a discharge petition led by Congresswoman Pressley to extend TPS for Haiti for three years.

“TPS holders serve as a backbone for families and our economy—caring for our elders and loved ones through illness, strengthening our communities, and making innumerable contributions daily,” said Congresswoman Pressley. “That’s why we we’re using every tool available to defend Temporary Protected Status and affirm the dignity, humanity, and due process of our immigrant neighbors from Haiti, Venezuela, Syria, and other nations in crisis. Our message to the Supreme Court today is simple: do your job, uphold the law, save lives, and protect our communities. I’m grateful to my colleagues and our advocates for their ongoing partnership.”

“Every day, TPS holders contribute their hard work and support to our communities, including as caregivers,” said Senator Markey. “TPS holders are nurses, nursing assistants, home health aides, childcare workers, and more. They form an invaluable part of the infrastructure of support that holds our communities together. Our care economy does not run on apps or algorithms—it runs on people. I am thankful to Congresswoman Pressley for her partnership in this years-long fight to advocate for the TPS community in Massachusetts and across the country. We must preserve TPS and protect our immigrant neighbors.”

“TPS recipients are integral parts of our community. They are our neighbors, our friends, caretakers, business owners, and so much more,” said Senator Blunt Rochester. “I was proud to join Congresswoman Pressley, Senator Markey, and dedicated advocates to keep up the drumbeat here in Congress, because welcoming those who need a safe place to call home is part of who we are as Americans. And no one—even the President—can take that identity away from us.”

“TPS holders earn work permits, pay taxes, and get zero government welfare. They pay into Medicare and Social Security and get nothing in return,” said Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz. “I was so proud that Congresswoman Pressley and Senator Markey joined me in leading over 180 Democratic colleagues in an amicus brief to urge the Supreme Court to reject Trump’s illegal termination of TPS.”

Joining the lawmakers at the press conference were Luis Zaldivar of the American Business Immigration Coalition; Athena Jones, SEIU Local 512, Home Care Chapter Chair; Executive Director Jenn Stowe, National Domestic Workers Alliance; Pierre Shostal, Goodwin House Alexandria (GHA); Todd Andrews, Chief Operating Officer, Asbury Communities Inc.; and Rita Siebenaler, Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads (GHBC),.

“Providers across the country are losing longtime, legally authorized caregivers, breaking trusted relationships and widening staffing gaps that directly threaten older adults’ access to needed care. Foreign-born workers have long been essential to the nation’s aging services sector, and recent immigration policy changes, such as the potential termination of Haitian temporary protected status, are exacerbating the aging services’ sector’s well-documented and increasing workforce needs. The harm to families and older adults trying to access the services they need when they need them is a travesty.  We urge Congress and the Trump administration to adopt immigration policies that strengthen, rather than destabilize, the caregiving workforce that older adults and families depend on,” said Katie Smith Sloan, President and CEO, LeadingAge

“The mass deportation of our long-term, law-abiding workforce in critical sectors has a devastating impact on the stability of senior care across the country. Nationally, immigrants comprise nearly 28% of the direct care workforce, including as many as 1 in 3 home care workers. In communities like Goodwin Living Alexandria, where immigrants represent 90% of nursing center care partners, removing these essential workers amid a national workforce shortage would severely strain the care our seniors depend on. ABIC Action is ensuring that the administration and Congress understand that removing these productive, responsible members of our society directly jeopardizes the essential services American families rely on every day,” said Luis Zaldivar, Project Director, ABIC Action

Footage from the press conference is available here.

Immigrants make up roughly 28% of the U.S. direct care workforce and as many as one in three home care workers. Any loss of work authorization, advocates say, would disrupt continuity of care, intensify staffing shortages, and put the health, safety, and stability of millions of American families, many of whom also consider their caretakers family.

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed Congresswoman Pressley’s bipartisan discharge petition by a vote of 220-207 to extend Haiti TPS for three years. Congresswoman Pressley won a key procedural vote on the discharge petition and managed debate on the House floor prior to the successful final passage vote. Last month, Rep. Pressley’s discharge petition successfully met the 218-signature threshold to move forward with bipartisan support—only the 15th discharge petition to do so in the last 40 years.

Congresswoman Pressley serves as Co-Chair for the House Haiti Caucus and represents one of the largest Haitian diaspora communities in the country. She has stood in vigorous defense for Haitian communities and all immigrant neighbors amid Trump and ICE’s attacks against immigrant communities.

Congresswoman Pressley has been a leading voice in Congress pushing back against Trump’s threats to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haitians.

This week, Rep. Pressley, alongside Rep. Wasserman Schultz and Senators Ed Markey and Chris Van Hollen, led 26 Senators and 157 Representatives in filing an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in Miot v. Trump, a consolidated case challenging the Trump administration’s unlawful termination of Haiti and Syria Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

On March 28, 2026, Rep. Pressley’s discharge petition to force a House vote on extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti successfully met the 218-signature threshold to move forward with bipartisan support.

In March 2026, Rep. Pressley joined Haitian faith leaders and advocates to urge the Supreme Court to affirm the lower courts’ rulings that deemed Trump’s push to terminate Haiti TPS unlawful.

In February 2026, Rep. Pressley applauded a federal judge’s ruling to temporarily block Trump’s move to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians. Ending TPS for Haitians would leave over 350,000 Haitian nationals at risk of deportation, many of whom reside in the Massachusetts 7th congressional district.

In January 2026, Congresswoman Pressley, alongside Senator Markey, held a field hearing on the importance of extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. She documented this testimony in the legislative record. Footage from the hearing is available here and photos here.

In January 2026, Rep. Pressley also organized a press conference in D.C. in January to sound the alarm on the harm of terminating TPS for Haiti on seniors and the U.S. care economy.

Rep. Mike Levin Calls for Investigation into Hungarian Funds Funneled to CPAC

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Mike Levin (CA-49)

April 28, 2026

Outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister’s Government Allegedly Gave Donations to Trump-Aligned Political Organization

Washington, D.C.—Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) is calling for an investigation into allegations that the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) received public funds from Hungary’s government under the leadership of outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. In a letter to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Federal Election Commission (FEC), and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Rep. Levin called on the agencies to use their respective investigative powers to determine whether any campaign finance, tax, or foreign agent registration laws were violated by these contributions. CPAC hosts major nationwide political events that attract Republican political candidates, elected officials, and more.

On April 13, 2026, Hungarian Prime Minister-Elect Péter Magyar announced that the country’s government under Orbán diverted Hungarian taxpayer money to CPAC and that the country’s authorities will be investigating. Allegations that any foreign government directly funded major political and electoral activities in the U.S. undermine confidence in our elections and must be treated accordingly.

Read the full letter here or below:

Dear Mr. Bisignano, Chair Broussard, and Acting Attorney General Blanche,

I write to express serious concern with recent allegations made by Hungarian Prime Minister-Elect Péter Magyar that the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) received public funds from the country’s former government. Allegations that any foreign government – much less one that was willing to do the bidding of the Russian Federation – directly funded flagship political and electoral infrastructure here in the U.S. is a direct attack on the integrity of American democracy. I request that your agencies proactively cooperate with the Hungarian government and exercise your relevant investigative and enforcement powers to determine swiftly and thoroughly whether any campaign finance, tax, or foreign agent registration laws were violated.

On Monday, April 13, Hungarian Prime Minister-Elect Péter Magyar announced that the country’s previous government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, diverted Hungarian taxpayer money to CPAC, which hosts major political events attracting conservative candidates, elected officials, and media. Prime Minister-Elect Magyar announced that his country’s authorities will be investigating this “criminal offense.”

At best, these recent allegations create the appearance that a foreign government is undermining the integrity of our electoral system by funding major political activities. At worst, this is illegal.

Budapest has hosted CPAC Hungary each year since 2022. President Trump has provided remarks at CPAC Hungary several times in his capacities as both a political candidate and officeholder. In 2024, presidential candidate Trump delivered remarks to the conference, at which Prime Minister Orbán declared “Go Donald Trump…and let the electoral battle begin.”

As you may know, CPAC is organized by the American Conservative Union (ACU), which includes 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) entities and an affiliated political action committee. Federal campaign finance law is unambiguous: foreign money is banned from U.S. elections. Political candidates, campaigns, and political action committees are barred from soliciting or accepting contributions or another “thing of value” from foreign governments, and foreign governments are prohibited from making any independent election expenditure or electioneering communication. These laws are intended to safeguard against foreign interference and ensure that candidates for public office represent the interests of their constituents, not other governments. Federal law also prohibits 501(c)(3) organizations from directly or indirectly participating in campaign activities. Together, these laws protect the voice and vote of American citizens and shield civil society from outside influence.

Prime Minister-Elect Magyar’s claims are especially concerning in light of Prime Minister Orbán’s pledge to be at the service of Russian authoritarian Vladimir Putin. These allegations are also surfacing at a time when the Trump Administration is actively dismantling the very safeguards that counter foreign interference in American politics. This includes the closure of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Foreign Influence Task Force and the DOJ’s February 2025 memorandum scaling back enforcement of foreign agent registration laws. These actions signal to foreign governments intent on undermining American democracy that they are welcome to keep trying.

Given the Hungarian Prime Minister-Elect’s troubling claims and his announcement that Hungarian authorities will be investigating, I respectfully request answers to the following questions:

Will your agency coordinate with Hungarian authorities to investigate whether CPAC received foreign government funds, in what amounts, and for which CPAC recipient?

Will your agency investigate whether Hungarian government funds received by CPAC have been used for election or political activities, travel by political candidates or public officials, or electioneering communications in the United States in violation of any federal laws?

If not, will your agency investigate what these funds were used for?

Has the Internal Revenue Service conducted any auditing or enforcement actions to ensure that CPAC Hungary adheres to restrictions on political activities by charitable organizations?

Does the acceptance of foreign government contributions by CPAC and its annual event in Hungary satisfy the requirements for registration under the Foreign Agent Registration Act?

These concerns are not about any one candidate, campaign, or committee. They are about the integrity of our nation’s elections and the health of American democracy. The American people deserve to know that their vote matters and their voice is heard. These allegations demand a swift and thorough response by your agency to ensure a zero-tolerance approach to foreign interference in American politics.

Sincerely,

MIKE LEVIN

Member of Congress

Pallone Presses EPA Administrator for Assistance on Suspected Cancer Cluster in Keyport, NJ at Budget Hearing

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Frank Pallone (6th District of New Jersey)

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today pressed Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin for assistance on a suspected cancer cluster in Keyport, New Jersey during a hearing on the agency’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget.

During the hearing, Pallone pushed Administrator Zeldin for a firm commitment to provide federal engagement.

“Earlier this month, I sent EPA a letter about a suspected cancer cluster in Keyport, New Jersey, which is in my district, demanding that the agency work with other federal and state partners to secure the site and address the ongoing contamination. Corporate polluters have been let off the hook for too long in this area, and the community is paying the price, and I think this matter deserves the full attention and force of our public health and environmental agencies. The Region Two administrator, I do want to say, has been cooperative. He met with my staff last Friday to discuss this cancer cluster and remediation of the landfill that we believe may be causing it,” Pallone said.

“So I just wanted to mention it to you and ask you to prioritize this issue as we proceed with the region two administrator to address remediation and the health concerns, if I can ask for your commitment,” the Sixth District Congressman asked.

Zeldin responded that he was “very well aware of it,” and that the “Region Two administrator has briefed me on it. I know how much of a priority it is. This is an issue that New Jersey DEP has been on the lead on enforcement at the landfill, they have not asked for our assistance, but we stand ready to help.”

Pallone’s questioning came after weeks of escalating concern from Keyport residents living near the former Aeromarine landfill, a site with a decades-long history of contamination that has never been fully remediated. More than 40 cancer cases have been reported in the surrounding community, including 28 clustered on a single street, raising urgent questions about potential environmental exposure.

Earlier this month, Pallone formally called on federal and state agencies to launch a coordinated investigation into the site, secure the property, and assess risks to public health. The landfill, which was shut down in 1979 due to major failures, has since been linked to the presence and migration of hazardous substances including benzene, PCBs, heavy metals, and methane gas. Despite repeated violations and nearly $900,000 in fines issued in recent years, the site remained unsecured and had not been properly capped or cleaned up.

Last Thursday, Pallone’s staff convened a multi-agency meeting with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Health, EPA Region 2, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and the Governor’s Office to establish a coordinated response. The Congressman’s office outlined a three-part approach focused on comprehensive environmental testing and cleanup, a full review of potential health impacts, and clear, consistent communication with residents. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for later this week.

Yesterday, Pallone also spoke directly with state and local officials in Keyport, including DEP Acting Commissioner Ed Potosnak and Mayor Rose Araneo, to hear from the community and reinforce the need for immediate action.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative John Garamendi (CA-08) joined U.S. Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla (both D-CA), along with Congresswoman Julia Brownley (CA-26), to announce more than $22 million in federal funding through the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) for the Port of Richmond in Contra Costa County and the Port of Hueneme in Ventura County.

The funding the lawmakers secured will improve efficiency and safety and help support the much-needed upgrades to infrastructure at the ports. The grant program is administered by the Maritime Administration.

“America’s economic strength is built on investments in our ports,” said Rep. Garamendi. “That’s why I’m proud to announce over $11 million in critical funding for the Port of Richmond. This investment reinforces the port’s vital role in our economy and our community. I thank Senators Schiff and Padilla for their partnership and leadership in securing this critical investment.”

“As vital economic drivers for California and the nation, it is crucial that we support the infrastructure upgrades needed at our ports. I am proud to have partnered with my colleagues to bring back federal funding for our ports, so they remain leading gateways for imports and exports,” said Senator Schiff.

“By upgrading key infrastructure at the Ports of Hueneme and Richmond, we’re strengthening our supply chains, supporting good-paying jobs, and moving goods more reliably across California and the nation,” said Senator Padilla. “As the fourth-largest economy in the world, California depends on ports like these as critical gateways for trade and growth. I’ll continue fighting for investments that deliver lasting benefits for the workers, businesses, and communities that rely on them.”

“A vital engine for clean jobs and workforce development, the Port of Hueneme drives economic growth and promotes climate resiliency across our region,” said Rep. Brownley. “To keep the Port strong and competitive, I worked alongside Senators Schiff and Padilla to secure federal funding for critical infrastructure upgrades. These federal investments will help the Port of Hueneme carry out its critical functions while prioritizing safety, maximizing efficiency, and guaranteeing responsible stewardship. Ensuring the Port’s sustainability and resilience is essential for our environmental and economic prosperity, and I will continue to support investments like these that serve our community and help safeguard our future.”
