Rep. Estes Reacts to Successful U.S. Airstrikes on Iran Nuclear Sites

WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the United States successfully carried out airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites.

“Tonight’s decisive action reflects the United States’ commitment to preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power,” said Rep. Estes. “Iran – a regime that espouses ‘death to America’ and supports terrorism – chose to continue to pursue the development of nuclear weapons. To do nothing would pose a threat to the U.S. and the rest of the free world. Instead of weak inaction, we have completely obliterated three nuclear sites, thanks to the incredible men and women in uniform who ensure that our nation is safe and free. We pray for our troops and for God’s protection over the United States of America.”

Castro Statement on Military Action in the Middle East

June 21, 2025

San Antonio, TX — Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) released the following statement:

“Too often Presidents mistake the initial acts of war as the conclusion to the conflict rather than the opening of a Pandora’s box.

“That appears to be the case with President Trump today.

“These strikes on Iran are a dangerously escalatory step. The President has taken us to war with Iran with no debate, no authorization from the Congress, and no explanation to the American people.

“The President and Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions risk yet another protracted war in the Middle East—a war that that the American people do not want.

“We must hold this administration accountable and do everything in our power to stop a larger war.”

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement on the situation in Iran.

“Trump’s strike against Iran was unconstitutional. Under the Constitution, Congress has the explicit power to declare war and authorize military force.

“These actions risk drawing the U.S. and our service members into another war in the Middle East, without explanation. I join my colleagues in demanding immediate answers from the Administration.”

Carlsbad, CA – Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) released the following statement in response to the U.S. strikes on Iran:

“We cannot allow any president to entangle the United States in another deadly and open-ended war without constitutional authority.

“Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. Our national security and the safety of our allies demand strength, resolve, and clear strategy. But strength in a democracy begins with the Constitution.

“Had the president come to Congress, a majority may very well have authorized a strike. But that is not what has happened.

“For the American people, and for every service member now in harm’s way, Congress must debate and approve any use of force.

“Chrissy and I are praying for our service members. I will continue to uphold the oath I swore to defend both the Constitution and the security of the United States.”

Rep. Jimmy Gomez Statement On U.S. Strike On Iran Nuclear Sites

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34)

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee On Intelligence, issued the following statement after President Trump announced he ordered a U.S. military strike on nuclear sites in Iran:

“Trump’s unilateral decision to strike these facilities may lead the U.S. into a war with Iran — without Congressional authorization. Under our Constitution, the power to declare war rests with Congress. Period.

“He chose to launch this strike on his own, knowing full well it could provoke retaliation and put American lives at risk. Now, the American people and Congress are left to deal with the fallout of a reckless decision we had no role in.

“President Trump has broken his promises of peace, undermined our allies, and once again shown that he lacks the credibility and steady leadership this moment demands.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is an oppressive and dangerous regime that supports terrorism, targets Americans, and silences its own people. It should never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon — plain and simple. That would be a direct threat to our allies in the Middle East — including Israel and Jordan — and peace and security around the world.”

We must not forget the Iranian people are not our adversaries. They deserve compassion, dignity, and the same human rights we fight for everywhere.

Speaker Johnson Statement on U.S. Airstrikes on Iran Nuclear Sites

Washington, June 21, 2025

Speaker Johnson today released the following statement:

“The military operations in Iran should serve as a clear reminder to our adversaries and allies that President Trump means what he says.

“The President gave Iran’s leader every opportunity to make a deal, but Iran refused to commit to a nuclear disarmament agreement.

“President Trump has been consistent and clear that a nuclear-armed Iran will not be tolerated. That posture has now been enforced with strength, precision, and clarity.

“The President’s decisive action prevents the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, which chants ‘Death to America,’ from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet. This is America First policy in action.

“God bless our brave men and women in uniform — the most lethal fighting force on the planet — as we pray for their safe return home. May God bless America.”

Larsen Tours Tacoma ICE Facility and Meets with Lelo Juarez

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Rick Larsen (2nd Congressional District Washington)

Yesterday, Representative Rick Larsen toured the privately-run ICE detention facility in Tacoma and met with Lelo Juarez, and today he released the following statement:

“During my tour of the privately-run ICE detention facility in Tacoma, I saw the kitchen, the law library, the medical facilities and the housing pods.

“More than 1,500 people are currently detained in the Tacoma facility – that’s more than twice as many as the start of the year. The facility has not staffed up sufficiently to provide basic services to the people being held there.

“After the tour, I met with Lelo Juarez, a Northwest Washington state community member who has been detained since March. Lelo is an activist, a union leader, and a husband.

“I shared with him how the Skagit County and broader Northwest Washington community has rallied around him to fight for his future. He asked for my help to be able to visit with his family in the same room, and I am working to make that possible.

“I will continue to work with Representative Jayapal, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, to ensure people detained by ICE receive basic services and have the opportunity to exercise their constitutional rights.”

Jayapal Statement on the Release of Mahmoud Khalil

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (7th District of Washington)

“Today’s judicial ruling that Mahmoud Khalil had to be released from ICE detention is a critical step on the road to justice. Mahmoud Khalil will finally be reunited with his wife and newborn baby, whose birth he missed while unjustly detained by the Trump Administration for more than three months.

“His detention has been a stain on our immigration and justice system in this country: an attack on the constitutional free speech protections guaranteed to every single person in our country, utilizing the immigration system to prevent him from engaging in this constitutionally protected political speech.

“In this case, as in several others, we see the Trump Administration is continuing to simply target people of all legal statuses, including legal permanent residents and even U.S. citizens, simply for disagreeing with their administration in any way. That is not American and is a gross violation of all of our fundamental rights. Every single person in America should understand that if this Administration can do this to Mr. Khalil, they can do the same thing to you.

“Today, I celebrate with Mahmoud Khalil and his family. There is more work to do to bring full justice to this situation, and to stop the attacks on so many across this country.”
