Krishnamoorthi, Ross, Veasey, Introduce Resolution Ending Trump’s Illegal Tariffs on India

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (8th District of Illinois)

WASHINGTON — Today, Representatives Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Deborah Ross (D-NC), and Marc Veasey (D-TX) introduced a resolution to terminate President Donald Trump’s national emergency authorizing tariffs of up to 50 percent on imports from India, helping to restore Congress’s constitutional authority over trade. The resolution follows a bipartisan Senate-passed measure to end Trump’s Brazil tariffs and rein in his abuse of emergency powers to raise duties on imports.

The resolution would terminate the national emergency that President Trump invoked to impose sweeping tariffs on Indian goods under the International Emergency Economics Powers Act (IEEPA) and rescind the additional 25 percent “secondary” duties that took effect on August 27th on top of earlier reciprocal tariffs. Together, these measures raised duties on many Indian-origin products to 50 percent.

“President Trump’s irresponsible tariff strategy toward India is a counterproductive approach that weakens a critical partnership,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. “Instead of advancing American interests or security, these duties disrupt supply chains, harm American workers, and drive up costs for consumers. Ending these damaging tariffs will allow the United States to engage with India to advance our shared economic and security needs.”

“North Carolina’s economy is deeply connected to India through trade, investment, and a vibrant Indian American community,” Congresswoman Ross said. “Indian companies have invested over a billion dollars and created thousands of good-paying jobs in our state – especially in the Research Triangle’s life sciences and technology sectors. Meanwhile, North Carolina manufacturers export hundreds of millions of dollars in goods to India each year, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and advanced machinery. When Trump destabilizes this relationship with illegal tariffs, he puts North Carolina jobs, innovation, and our long-term competitiveness at risk.”

“India is an important cultural, economic, and strategic partner and these illegal tariffs are a tax on everyday North Texans who are already struggling with affordability at every level,” Congressman Veasey said.

Representatives Ross, Veasey, and Krishnamoorthi have been leading voices in Congress opposing Trump’s tariff agenda and calling for a reset of U.S.–India relations. In October, they partnered with Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) and 19 Members of Congress in urging President Trump to repair America’s strained relationship with India and reverse his harmful tariff policies.

Ending Trump’s India tariffs is part of a broader effort by congressional Democrats to reclaim Congress’ constitutional authority over trade and to stop the President from using emergency powers to unilaterally impose his misguided trade policies.

(Washington, DC)—On Wednesday, December 11, 2025, Congressman Al Green issued the following statement regarding H.Res.939, a privileged resolution calling for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump. After consideration, the House voted 237-140 to table the measure, with 47 members voting “present.” A copy of the members’ votes is accessible by clicking here. See Congressman Green’s response below:

Congressman Al Green stated, “Donald John Trump’s pattern of threatening rhetoric, disregard for democratic norms, and harmful behavior towards lawmakers and federal judges cannot be ignored. Today’s vote reflects the reservations Members of Congress have about Donald John Trump’s conduct and the danger it poses to our nation. While the House ultimately voted to table my impeachment resolution, the diversity of support for this impeachment includes ranking members of full committees, subcommittees, and persons from different political caucuses. This should send a powerful message to President Trump. He should understand now that targeting people is not only harmful to the people he targets, but also harmful to the continuation of his presidency.”

Article I pertains to President Trump calling for the execution of six Democratic lawmakers, all of whom are currently serving in the U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives, and who previously served in the U.S. Military or in U.S. Intelligence communities. Article II describes how President Trump has fostered a political climate in which lawmakers and judges face threats of political violence and physical assault, has made threats and vituperative comments against federal judges, putting their safety and well-being at risk, and is undermining the independence of our judiciary.

Evans Welcomes House Passage of ‘Hospital at Home’ Bill, Urges Action on Health-Care Tax Credits ahead of Dec. 31 Cost Spike

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Dwight Evans (2nd District of Pennsylvania)

Says similar cooperation – plus a ‘sense of urgency’ – needed for 24 million Americans’ health insurance

WASHINGTON (Dec. 15, 2025) – Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3) welcomed the House of Representatives’ recent passage of a “Hospital at Home” bill he’s co-leading, and said the same type of bipartisan cooperation is needed to prevent a cost spike on Dec. 31 for 24 million Americans’ health insurance.

“I’m pleased that we were able to get a bill to renew the vital ‘Hospital at Home’ program for five years through the deeply divided House. It’s a common-sense bill that helps thousands of patients to receive better care from more than 200 hospitals around the country, including some patients in the Philadelphia area – and it saves money,” Evans said.

In November 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) established a waiver to provide hospitals with increased flexibility to care for certain patients from the comfort and convenience of their homes, rather than in a hospital setting. According to the American Hospital Association, this model has been proven to “reduce costs, improve outcomes and enhance the patient experience.” A recent CMS report shows that allowing patients to be treated in a more familiar environment and routine accelerates recovery time, lowers the mortality rate and reduces the risk of hospital-acquired infections and falls.

Evans said, “Now we need the Republican majorities in the House and Senate to bring that same spirit of cooperation to another health-care issue. We need them to share the sense of urgency that Democrats in Congress already have about preventing a massive cost spike about two weeks from now for health coverage that 24 million Americans count on.

“Tax credits that make health insurance more affordable for those 24 million Americans expire at the end of the year. If Republicans let those tax credits lapse, an estimated 150,000 Pennsylvanians will have to drop their coverage, and about 350,000 other Pennsylvanians will be making tough choices to pay for a massive increase in their premiums. But this crisis is preventable!

“We just need four House Republicans to join us in signing a discharge petition to force a House vote on extending these tax credits for working-class Americans. This is the same procedure we successfully used a few weeks ago to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Similarly, health care can’t wait!”

Evans also released a short video about this urgent issue.

“Working Americans need congressional Republicans to act on these health-care tax credits with the same speed they displayed earlier this year, when Republicans rushed a tax cut for the richest into law,” Evans said.

Evans also addressed two key reasons why some Republicans in Congress have opposed renewing the tax credits:

“These tax credits aren’t about Covid – President Biden proposed them in 2019, several months before the Covid crisis began in the U.S., and more than a year before he took office in January 2021.

“And claims of fraud appear to be overblown, especially in states that run their own health-insurance exchanges like Pennsylvania does with Pennie.com. The Trump administration does need to explain why it reinstated 850 agents and brokers who had been suspended from Affordable Care Act enrollment for suspected fraudulent or abusive conduct related to unauthorized enrollments or plan switches.

“The bottom line is: Congress needs to renew these health-care tax credits – NOW!” Evans said.

Evans represents the 3rd Congressional District, which includes Northwest and West Philadelphia and parts of North, South, Southwest and Center City Philadelphia. He recently announced that his office returned to or saved $4.5 million for constituents in 2024 in cases involving federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. The 2024 figure brings Evans’ office’s total to more than $45.5 million returned to or saved for constituents during his first eight years in Congress.

Evans serves on the influential House Ways and Means Committee, including its Subcommittee on Health. The committee oversees Social Security, Medicare, taxes, and trade. House Passes Rep. Hudson’s Bipartisan Bill to Reauthorize the Congressional Award Program

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives passed Congressman Richard Hudson’s (NC-09) H.R. 860, the Congressional Award Program Reauthorization Act, a bipartisan bill with Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-12) to extend the Congressional Award Program through fiscal year 2028.

“The Congressional Award has helped generations of young people set goals, serve others, and push themselves to achieve more,” said Rep. Hudson. “This bipartisan bill ensures the program can continue to recognize the dedication of future leaders.”

The Congressional Award Program is Congress’s official youth recognition program, honoring Americans ages 14 to 23 for achievement in community service, personal development, physical fitness, and goal-setting.

Hudson and Dingell’s bill ensures the program can continue operating without interruption. It makes a small modernization update to allow flexibility in how award medals are produced, while preserving the prestige of the Congressional Award.

The legislation is bipartisan and aligns with a Senate companion bill that passed unanimously, reflecting broad support for encouraging civic engagement and leadership among young Americans.
