Babin Votes Yes on Budget Resolution to Restore Fiscal Responsibility and Secure America’s Future

Washington, February 25, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Brian Babin (R-TX), Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee voted in favor of H. Con. Res. 14, the House Budget Resolution for Fiscal Year 2025.

“It’s time to finally make our government efficient and accountable before we bankrupt the country and foreclose on our children’s future. This bill addresses the cost-of-living crisis by curbing out-of-control government spending, locking in tax cuts for families and small businesses, unleashing domestic energy production, and eliminating bureaucratic waste and fraud. Additionally, it prioritizes national security by providing critical resources to secure the border and rebuild military readiness,” said Congressman Babin. “This budget resolution outlines the fiscal framework needed to advance President Trump’s America First agenda.”

Babin, Houlahan Reintroduce Bipartisan REDI Act to Address Doctor Shortage and Strengthen U.S. Health Care

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Brian Babin (R-TX)

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) and U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) issued the following statements on the reintroduction of the Resident Education Deferred Interest Act (REDI Act), which addresses the growing doctor shortage, makes medical education more affordable, and boosts health care outcomes in Southeast Texas and across America.

“The growing doctor shortage is a crisis we can’t afford to ignore. By passing the Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act, we can remove a major financial barrier for future physicians and dentists, making their education more accessible and strengthening our health care workforce,” said Rep. Babin. “This bill will not only save residents thousands of dollars in accrued interest but also encourage specialization and make it easier for providers to serve in rural communities. With strong bipartisan support and backing from leading medical and dental organizations, I urge my colleagues to support the REDI Act and invest in the future of American health care.”

“College and university students in undergraduate and graduate programs are not required to start paying their loans until they complete them. That same policy should extend to dental and medical students through their internship and residency requirements,” said Rep. Houlahan. “I’m proud to support this bipartisan legislation to help those pursuing a medical or dental degree by eliminating an unfair burden. We must continue to make these career paths more accessible, and this is a great first step in encouraging more people to enter this sector of the workforce.

Rep. Brian Babin Votes to Keep Government Running, Advance President Trump’s America First Agenda

Washington, March 11, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) voted in favor of a clean continuing resolution (CR) to ensure the federal government remains open while Republicans continue working to implement President Donald Trump’s agenda.

“While Democrats are busy campaigning for a government shutdown, House Republicans are focused on keeping the government running and delivering for the American people,” said Rep. Babin. “This clean CR freezes spending, prevents wasteful Democrat priorities, and allows us to stay laser-focused on securing our border, draining the swamp, and putting America first.”

President Trump has made it clear: a clean CR is essential to advancing his administration’s top priorities. This measure ensures we can:

  • Freeze reckless spending and put a stop to Democrats’ runaway inflationary policies.
  • Continue mass deportations of illegal migrants and allow ICE agents to enforce our immigration laws without obstruction.
  • Eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
  • Keep America safe and prosperous by pushing forward with critical national security and economic policies.

“The American people are tired of Washington’s dysfunction,” Babin continued. “Democrats seem eager to grind the government to a halt, but Republicans refuse to let them win. We are committed to delivering results, not roadblocks. This CR is a victory for Southeast Texans and the American people.”

Congressman Brian Babin Introduces the No Bailouts for Reparations Act

Congressman Brian Babin Introduces the No Bailouts for Reparations Act

Washington, March 14, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brian Babin, D.D.S. (TX-36) introduced the No Bailouts for Reparations Act, legislation that prohibits the United States government from providing bailouts or other financial assistance to any state or local government that enacts laws implementing reparations programs. This bill ensures that hardworking American taxpayers are not forced to subsidize misguided and divisive reparations policies at the state and local level.

“States have the right to govern themselves, but they shouldn’t expect a federal bailout when their radical policies lead to economic disaster,” said Congressman Babin. “Just last Thursday, Washington, D.C., enacted a law allowing taxpayer-funded reparations—absolute insanity! Democrats prioritize woke virtue signaling over fiscal responsibility and expect the rest of America to foot the bill. Not on our watch! With our national debt surpassing $34 trillion, taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund leftist social experiments. If states choose this path, they must bear the financial consequences themselves.”

Key Points of the No Bailouts for Reparations Act:

  • Protecting Taxpayers: The federal government has no business forcing hardworking Americans to subsidize costly reparations schemes enacted by blue-state politicians. This bill ensures that responsibility stays where it belongs—at the state and local level.
  • Preventing Fiscal Irresponsibility: Many states and cities already face massive debt and budget shortfalls. Instead of prioritizing crime reduction, infrastructure, or economic growth, some liberal leaders want to spend billions on reparations. Taxpayers in Texas and across America should not be forced to bail them out when their budgets collapse.
  • Opposing Radical Identity Politics: Reparations based on race or historical grievances are not only unfair: they’re unconstitutional and divisive. Our nation should focus on policies that promote economic opportunity for all, not government handouts based on ancestry.

This legislation has already garnered coverage in Fox News.

Clyburn Statement On Plane Collision At Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn (SC-06), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies, released the following statement on the plane collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport:

“My prayers are with the victims, families and loved ones, first responders, and all those impacted by the plane collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

“I am grateful to the first responders, search and rescue teams, and community members who have worked tirelessly through the night on recovery efforts.

“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB), and Department of Defense will investigate the incident. My colleagues and I on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee are continuing to monitor the accident and will do all we can to prevent another tragedy.”

The Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies bill provides annual funding for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) operations, including the salaries and expenses of more than 14,000 air traffic controllers, and more than 12,000 engineers and technicians, who help manage the National Airspace System. The THUD bill also provides annual funding for the NTSB, who statutorily is responsible to investigate all aviation accidents.

Clyburn and DeLauro: Unchecked Billionaire Musk’s FAA Takeover Puts Profits Over the Safety of the American People

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative James E (Jim) Clyburn (6th District of South Carolina)

In glaring conflict of interest, Musk implies that the contract awarded to his competitor should instead go to his own company, Starlink, while SpaceX workers burrow at the FAA.

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee Ranking Member James E. Clyburn (SC-06) released the following statement on unchecked billionaire Elon Musk’s takeover of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

“President Trump and unchecked billionaire Elon Musk are stealing taxpayer dollars used to improve the safety of Americans and the U.S. military to instead boost Musk’s companies’ profits and hand tax breaks to their billionaire cronies. It is the government’s role to safeguard the lives of all Americans. President Trump and Elon Musk are avoiding their responsibility to keep America informed and safe by stealing resources while cutting thousands of critical safety jobs at the FAA. Business travel, military flights, family vacations, air shipments of packages and medical emergency flights are now in the hands of a private corporation, with no clear plan to make sure Americans are safe when flying.

“Now, it appears Elon Musk is forcefully cancelling a contract awarded to his Starlink competitor, in an effort to take over that contract himself. This is a glaring conflict of interest. These changes are not about Americans’ safety; instead, these are dangerous actions that put Elon Musk’s personal wealth over the American people’s lives.”

Congressman Williams Introduces Legislation Requiring the Screening of Migrants Against Terror Watchlist

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Roger Williams (25th District of Texas)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) introduced the Identifying Potential Terrorist at the Border Act of 2025. This bill requires U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to screen and detain all individuals attempting to cross the border until it is determined that the migrant is not a match with an individual listed on the Federal Terror Watchlist.

“Under Biden, terrorist encounters at United States ports of entry skyrocketed, putting American communities in danger,” said Congressman Williams. “My bill requires CBP to screen and detain all individuals attempting to cross the border until a match is returned on that migrant, giving the Trump administration another tool to safeguard our nation. Law and order is back in America, and we must be aware of who is in our country as Republicans fight to reverse the consequences of Biden’s deadly open border policies.”

Read the bill text here.

Background:

  • Currently it is practice but not law that CBP screen migrants against the terror database.
  • During Trump’s first term, encounters were less than 6 for an entire fiscal year.
  • Under the Biden administration, encounters jumped to the 100’s.
