MEMPHIS — Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) made the following statement after learning of the passing of civil rights leader and presidential candidate Jesse Jackson:
“Jesse Jackson was a man in the arena for most of his life and was one of the prominent civil rights and human rights leaders in our nation’s history. He was a splendid orator and a courageous leader. I extend my profound condolences to his family, particularly his sons Jesse Jr. and Jonathan, friends with whom I have served in the House, and his many friends, supporters and admirers. Jesse Jackson made a difference and will be missed.”
